Well it looks like Deal or No Deal Host Howie Mandel is getting a second job starting tonight. NBC debuts Howie’s new unscripted show Howie Do It at 8PM EST. The show will take unsuspecting people each week and let them believe they are going to be on some game show or a new reality show. Unfortunately for them they will discover, a lot too late, that they are being pranked by Howie and his crew. Wow that talk about embarrassing getting pranked like that on TV in front of millions of viewers. I am guessing it is not so great for the people being pranked but hysterically funny for those of us who are watching. If you want to catch some videos and preview clips of the show to get a better idea of what I am talking about you can go to http://www.nbc.com/howie-do-it/. I watched some of the video clips last night and they are awesome. But seriously with Howie involved how can the show not completely rock. I think he is so freaking funny. The show seems a little bit similar to Punk’d only better I would say because it is with real people and not celebrities. Ok so don’t forget to check out Howie’s new show tonight at 8PM on NBC.

Every year NBC airs the movie It’A Wonderful Life and every year I say I am going to watch it. In fact last year I even DVR’d it and I never watched it. Well this year I finally sat down and enjoyed this amazing classic Holiday movie. I have to say this might be one of the best movies I have ever seen. I love that NBC has made this such a Holiday classic. I have a feeling this will now become part of my Holiday tradition. I know it is the day after Christmas and I am stil writing about Holiday stuff but I really just wanted to give all my readers a heads up for next year, be sure you watch It’ A Wonderful lif. It will make your Holidays even better. Ok I am now off to find some after Christmas sales.

So I just finished watching last weeks episodes of Days of Our Lives and I have to say this is the second week in a row I have actually watched Days. I turned the show on as basically background noise as I was doing some writing but I found myself actually watching the show. Granted there are still some storylines that I am annoyed with like the whole Daniel/Chloe thing and anything with Melanie bugs me, but the rest is pretty good. The additions of Galen Gering and Eric Marstoff have been fabulous, especially Galen’s interaction with Sami. I am still upset that Drake and Dediere have been let go but I have to say I am liking what the new producers are doing so far. I can only hope that they continue down this road. I look forward to this week’s Days Christmas, which is always so special with the Horton Family Ornaments. To the powers that be at Days keep up the good work because this is one fan you beginning to win back.

Ok so the other day I wrote a post about Jimmy Fallon and mentioned how he is taking over for Conan when Conan takes over for Jay in May 2009. Well there is a new development in the Late Night story, Jay Leno is not leaving NBC. In fact Mr. Leno will be getting his own show in the coveted 10PM EST time slot. The show will apparently be pretty much just like what Jay is doing now. He will host a talk show. So although this is good news for both Jay and NBC it is not so good for Conan or Jimmy. It is huge for Jay to have a talk show at 10PM EST, it really is a promotion for him. As for NBC, well they get a show that will no doubt kill in the ratings and will be way cheaper to produce than a comedy or drama. Plus viewers already love Jay so that will definitely help out NBC. I have to say I was quite surprised by this development. I thought Jay would retire or just do stand up or play with his cars or something. NBC clearly made him an offer he couldn’t refuse. NBC is going where no other major network has gone before. Sure The CW and Fox air local news at 10PM EST but that is so not the same has having a talk show in the time really prime slot. Anyway I can not wait to see how this whole saga plays out.

There has been a lot of talk the past week or so about Jimmy Fallon taking over for Conan in May 2009. As you may or may not know Conan will be taking the reins at The Tonight Show when Leno leaves, which is why Jimmy will be the new Late Night Host. NBC has decided to give viewers a sneak peek at what Fallon will be like via webisodes. Now I think the webisodes are a great idea to get viewers used to Jimmy. But I have to say I am not really sure that Jimmy Fallon can handle his own talk show. Sure he is funny and I loved him on Saturday Night Live but I don’t know I have my reservations. Which is why the webidoes is perfect for me because it will give me a chance to see Jimmy in action. The videos will air at 12:35 nightly on NBC.com and the first one aired last night Anyway if you are a late night talk show fan then I would say check out the webidodes. The best part is you don’t have to watch them at 12:35 I am sure you can catch them any time. If you watch them please let me know what you think?

Days of Our Lives fans can celebrate NBC has inked a new deal to keep the show on the air until at least 2010 and possibly 2011. In the deal it appears that if Days does certain things then NBC will guarantee the show will be on the air until 2011. This is great news for Days fans. With the soap opera industry becoming more and more endangered, so to speak, this is fabulous news. A little side note here I actually took an internship with NBC in Burbank because I wanted to be near Days of Our Lives. And although I am currently going through a “this show kind of stinks phase” I am thrilled that it has been renewed. There are glimpses of the Days that I grew up with and I am hopeful that it will return to the good old Days, no pun intended, before the new contract with NBC expires. If you aren’t a soap opera fan you probably don’t know but there has been a lot of speculation that NBC would drop the show that has been on their network for over 40 years. It all goes back to soap operas are expensive, advertising is down, viewers are down, all that stuff comes into play. Again you all know I am a fan of soap operas, so I get super excited when I see that networks are still have faith in an industry I so love and want to be apart of. Ok enough of that stuff. Days has been renewed, YES!!!!!!!

Oh my TV Fanatic friends the wait is finally over 30 Rock makes its big return tonight. Let me tell you the show is pulling out all the stops too with an amazing list of guest stars. Jennifer Aniston, Oprah and Steve Martin. Wow talk about having some clout, you know a show rocks, no pun intended, when you can get big name guest stars. It is kind of like what Will and Grace or Friends did. I don’t watch 30 Rock on a regular basis, I try to catch it but I have to say I don’t love it. However I know there are many many people who love this show and it has won many awards so I thought it deserved a little shout out. I really think though that I might add this show to my Itunes list of shows to watch, just because I feel like I haven’t fully given it the chance it deserves Anyway don’t miss the return of 30 Rock tonight on NBC.

Good news for those of you who have DIRECTV, the new season of Friday Night Lights begins for you tomorrow, Wednesday Oct 1st at 9PM EST. The 3rd season will have 13 new episodes, which will air every Wednesday on DIRECTV. Along with the new episodes, DIRECTV will air a custom-produced extended version of Friday Night Lights that will be commercial free. In addition there will also be a live weekly show, Live From Dillon, that will have cast interviews and a chance for viewers to chat with the actors. That is pretty cool. Friday Night Lights is a phenomenal show that is constantly endanger of being cancelled. It is one of those shows that people are always talking about how great it is, yet ratings wise it doesn’t do very good. I think this deal with DIRECTV is a great idea to get the show some more publicly. For those of us who don’t have DIRECTV we will have to wait until February when new episodes begin airing on NBC. Wow I kind of wish I had DIRECTV, I am going to have to wait so long for new episodes. I miss my Dillon Panthers. If you have DIRECTV please watch Friday Night Lights, it is seriously one of the best shows I have ever watched. I really want it to be saved.
